Start of Lesson - Intro Guide


  • Using the previous lessons Reflective Log - get your learner to recap the last lesson


  • What was the decided Goal for this lesson?


  • What Changes might have happened since we last met? (Additional Training or practice etc.)


  • Any changes to health, or factors that may have an impact on today's lesson goals?


  • Any amendments to the original lesson plan?


  • What driving skill sets are we going to be using? (Control, position, forward planning, awareness etc.)


  • What systems or routines are we going to be using? (POM, MSM, MSPSL, LADA, COAST, IPSGA etc.)


  • Are you both happy with the plan?


  • Share the responsibilities, who will do what?  Instructor, "What help and support do you want from me?"

        Listen to the learner!!


  • Brief recap of lesson plan and shared responsibilities.  Final confirmation that all understood and agreed.


  • How does the learner feel - Confidence level out of 10.


Remember - this is valuable time for both the instructor and the learner - it allows the learner to get into the correct 'learn to drive' mind set and offers the instructor an insight into the current mental and physical state of their pupil.   This helps ensure  that lessons are delivered at a pace and the right time, in the right way for the learner.
